From April 18 to 19, the School of Public Health at Ningbo University Health Science Center hosted a high-level academic conference on "One Health." The event was attended by Professor Lu Jiahai, Dean of the One Health Institute at Wenzhou Medical University; Professor Xu Guozhang, Deputy Director of Ningbo University Health Science Center and Dean of the School of Public Health; Professor Wu Xifeng, Dean of the School of Public Health at Zhejiang University; Professor Liu Cuiqing, Dean of the School of Public Health at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University; Professor Jiang Jianmin, Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention; Chief Physician Chen Yi, Deputy Director of the Ningbo Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention; Professor Zhang Yunhui from the School of Public Health at Fudan University; Professor Yin Jianhua from the School of Public Health at the Naval Medical University; and Associate Chief Physician Cao Xuechun, Deputy Director of the Ningbo International Travel Health Care Center. Over 100 participants joined the conference, including all faculty and staff of the School of Public Health, members of the Epidemiological Professional Committee of the Ningbo Preventive Medicine Association, technical professionals from the Preventive Medicine Practice Teaching Base of the Health Science Center and Ningbo University-affiliated hospitals, as well as postgraduate and undergraduate student representatives from the School of Public Health.

During the conference, Professor Lu Jiahai, Professor Xu Guozhang, Professor Wu Xifeng, Professor Liu Cuiqing, Professor Jiang Jianmin, Chief Physician Chen Yi, Professor Zhang Yunhui, Professor Yin Jianhua, Associate Chief Physician Cao Xuechun, Chief Physician Zhang Dongliang, and Associate Professor Hong Hang delivered insightful academic reports covering topics such as advancements in One Health research, applications of One Health in zoonotic disease control, cutting-edge research and translational applications in smart health, exploration of PM2.5 toxic effects and mechanisms based on the "kidney governing bone" theory, prevention and control practices and epidemiological research progress on severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome, dengue prevention strategies leveraging health medical big data, analysis of developmental and metabolic toxicity and molecular mechanisms of air pollution from a life-cycle perspective, causal links between hepatitis B virus evolution and liver disease, applications of the One Health concept in modernizing port public health systems at customs, tuberculosis prevention strategies in the context of One Health, and applications of the One Health concept in stroke prevention. The conference enhanced attendees' understanding of the One Health concept, research progress, and its applications across various diseases, fostering exchange and development in this field. It also laid a foundation for better integrating the One Health concept into public health practices in Ningbo.

Moving forward, the School of Public Health at Ningbo University Health Science Center will further implement national strategies such as "Healthy China" and "Rural Revitalization" to build a modernized system of health governance. It will strengthen strategic collaborations with high-level public health institutions nationwide, focusing on three key areas: One Health, field epidemiology, and health medical big data. By anchoring in Ningbo, serving Zhejiang Province, and contributing to the nation, the school aims to support the Healthy China initiative, safeguard public health and well-being, and advance China's public health modernization. These efforts will elevate Ningbo University's influence and competitiveness in public health and bolster the development of Ningbo's "medical peak" initiatives.
