In order to deepen the sense of identity of pharmacy students, the School of Pharmacy recently organized the 2024 undergraduate pharmacy students to visit the Chinese Medicine Museum in Ningbo Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to have a close experience of the fascinating charm exuded by the ancient Chinese medicine culture.
In the TCM Museum of Ningbo Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wang Yanyun, the chief pharmacist, firstly brought a content-rich explanation to the students. She started with the TCM prescriptions that have been passed down for thousands of years, introduced Chinese acupuncture, which is popular internationally, and the important discoveries in botanical pharmacology. Through her explanation, the students gained a deeper understanding of the history, basic theories, health maintenance methods and therapies of Chinese medicine, as well as the efficacy and application of common Chinese herbs, especially a more comprehensive understanding of Zhejiang Bawei, a Chinese medicine unique to the Zhejiang region.

Afterwards, Chief Pharmacist Yu Weifang led the students to visit the Chinese Medicine Proforma Concoction Room as well as the Chinese Medicine Room of the hospital. Through his guidance, the students gained a clearer understanding of the process of making various Chinese medicinal preparations and the procedure of dispensing medicines in the pharmacy.

The visit not only gave the students a deep understanding of their majors and strengthened their professional choices, but also allowed them to appreciate the unique charm of Chinese medicine culture, which further stimulated their interest and enthusiasm in Chinese medicine.
